Last updated: 15 November 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Bilig ("Bilig", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information. Bilig is currently operated by individual founders and is not yet an incorporated company. By using Bilig, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What Bilig Is

Bilig is an online platform that allows you to:

  • Receive newsletters using a unique email address generated for your account
  • Read, organise, and store newsletters in one place
  • Track your reading behaviour through analytics
  • Discover newsletters and authors
  • Access free and optional paid features

We do not own, create, or control the newsletters you receive. These are produced by third-party publishers.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate and improve Bilig. This includes:

2.1 Account Information

  • Your name (optional)
  • Email address (required for login)
  • Password or login method (if using email/password)
  • Authentication data (if using OAuth in the future)

2.2 Unique Bilig Email Address(es)

When you subscribe to newsletters through Bilig, we generate a unique email address linked to your account. Newsletters sent to that address are routed into your Bilig inbox. This address is part of your account information.

2.3 Newsletter Content

When a newsletter publisher sends an email to your unique Bilig address, we process:

  • The email content (text, images, links)
  • Metadata like sender name, timestamps, subject lines
  • Tags or categories (automatic or manual)
  • Your reading progress
  • Whether you archive, save, or delete an email

We only process emails that you have chosen to subscribe to.

2.4 Usage & Analytics Data

To help you understand your reading habits and to improve Bilig, we collect:

  • Reading time
  • Reading completion percentages
  • Categories you read most
  • Time-of-day usage
  • Interaction metrics (opens, saves, scroll depth, etc.)
  • Device and browser type
  • Log files (IP address, approximate location, timestamps)

This data is used to generate your personal analytics dashboard.

2.5 Payment Information (For Pro Users)

Bilig may use third-party payment processors such as:

  • LemonSqueezy
  • Paddle
  • Stripe
  • Others as needed

These providers process payments on our behalf. We do not collect or store your full payment card information. Payment processors may collect:

  • Name
  • Billing email
  • Credit/debit card details
  • Address (if required for tax compliance)
  • Transaction history

Their privacy policies also apply.

2.6 Cookies and Similar Technologies

Bilig uses cookies and similar technologies to operate and maintain the platform, support core functionality, and enhance user experience. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function properly and are used regardless of user preferences.

With user consent, Bilig also uses additional cookies and similar technologies to understand how the platform is used, analyse performance, and improve usability and feature design. These technologies help us assess interaction patterns and general usage trends across the platform.

Where required by law, users are provided with a cookie consent interface that allows them to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Users may update their preferences at any time through the available controls or their browser settings.
